After a little bit of a hassle getting out of Cuenca due to limited buses and space, I finally was able to catch the night bus to Máncora, Peru, about a 7 hour ride not bad (I think this trip has made me immune to driving to LA from San Francisco now, which used to be the longest drive ever haha).
I arrive to the little beach town nice and early and take a tut tut to my hostel down a nice and bumpy dirt road..here's the frontfront of my hostel and the beach is about 20 meters behind me
After chilling in a hammock for a while I walk down the beach (first time touching sand since the beginning of Colombia, feels so long ago) to town, about a 15-20 minute walk.
While in town I get a nice breakfast, buy my ticket to Lima (I have learned to do this over 24 hours in advance now) and when heading back I come across the guy (Vicente de España) who I sat next to on the bus. He is just there for the day because he forgot his phone the day before, so he comes back with me to the hostel to hang out.
We spent the day drinking beer, playing pool on a table with the smallest pockets I have seen (every pool table I have come across is different and janky in its own way, but makes it more interesting), swimming in the ocean, eating good food, and meeting new people.
I have always wanted to do yoga on the beach and there was a place on the beach that had classes, but they weren't on the beach so I ended up downloading an app that has ton of different sessions with music, voice guidance, and videos!
The next day I had a beautiful (and sandy) class on the beach which was so peaceful and relaxing! Afterwards, I swam in the ocean for bit and then headed back to the hostel where I chilled in the hammocks for a bit more. I spent the day relaxing and hanging out, going into town for a delicious ceviche lunch and then got on the bus for the 20 hour trip to Lima.
Ceviche with some type of fish and black shells. So good
